Nicky Myny

Biography

Nicky Myny is a contemporary artist working between Belgium and South Africa. Her practice explores identity, transformation, and relational presence through painting and relational artistic processes that give form to moments of personal and collective transition.

Over the past fifteen years, Myny has developed a multidisciplinary artistic practice that moves between portraiture, abstract painting, and collaborative artistic encounters. Her work investigates how internal shifts, such as healing, motherhood, personal reinvention, or collective transformation, can be translated into visible form through painting and ritualized artistic processes.

Her artistic language is strongly shaped by cross-cultural experience and by her work in South Africa, where relational presence, land, and ritual traditions have influenced her understanding of art as a space for reflection, connection, and transformation.

Alongside her studio practice, Myny has collaborated with institutions, organizations, and communities across Europe and South Africa. Her work has been exhibited internationally and continues to develop as an evolving body of work exploring how art can mark and hold life’s threshold moments.

She holds a Master’s Degree with Distinction in Visual Arts from PXL University College (MAD School of Arts) in Hasselt, Belgium.
